ITALY'S PREPARATIONS
IMPORTATION OF AMERICAN COAL i _ 1 (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) (Received March 24, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd March. The Cardiff Coal Exchange reports that the Italian Government has secured a number of steamers on a month's charter, and is making extensive importations of American coal. ITALIAN GOVERNMENT MUST HAVE FREEDOM OF ACTION ROME, 23rd March. The .Chamber of Deputies has adjourned till Bth May. Signoi- Turati asked for a shorter recess with a view of controlling foreign policy/ but the Prime Minister, Signor Salandra, replied that the Government needed freedom of action, and commented on the country's confidence in the Administration.
