HAWKES BAY RIFLE MEETING
The Hawkes Bay Rifle Meeting, which is practically the last big meeting oC the season for North Island rifle shots, takes place at Hastings on Easter Satur* day and Easter Monday, 3rd and sth April. Last year was a record one for this association, 140 competitors taking part. It is worthy of note, as showing the encouragement given to rifle shooting in Hawkes Bay, that at this meeting Territorials are found competing on level terms with rifle club men and holding their owe. This year a liberal programme has been issued, which includes iifty prizes for the young ahotsi Thd Teams Match carries with it the Collins Shield, valued at 100 guineas, probably the finest shooting shield in the Dominion to-day. In individual events, the Lane Champion Belt and-. Medal, the M'Farlahe Cup, and the Bone Cup are given. The tyros are not neglected. The Campbell Cup and Medal- will be given to the highest Territorial tyro, while the M'Leod and Rivers Cup and Medal will go, to the highest rifle club tyro. Wellington was well represented at this meeting last year, and a number of prominent shots have expressed their intention' of competing this year.
