BUKOWINA REVERSE
Austrian exaggeration. captur.es claimed exceed russian forces. PETROGRAD, 21st February. Official. — "Austrian official 'messages claim that they took 29,000 prisoners in Bukowina. Really our effectives did not amount to 12,000. We lost in killed and wounded and prisoners 1014. Germany's losses on the- Russian front in February totalled 200,000." PROGRESS IN THE CARPATHIANS. PETROGRAD, 20th February. We captured the height north of Voliamikhoff, in the Carpathians. A Russian battalion captured the fortification of Zavadok, killing all the defenders. All the German massed coun ter-attacks were repulsed with great losses. Sanguinary fighting continues in the Wyszkow legion. We captured two thousand prisoners, and six ma-chine guns in two days. SORTIES FROM PRZEMYSL. PETROGRAD, 21st February. Official : The enemy's attacks between Tuchla and Wiszkow were particularly fierce, but were repulsed. We easily repulsed two sorties from Przemyel, inflicting severe losses. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT The Prime Minister has received the following message from the High Commissioner :—: — LONDON, 20tb Feb., 4.45 a.m. Petrograd reports :— " Li the Carpathians a series of hostile attacks was repulsed. The Russians, by a dashing bayonet attack captured the height east of Lupkow Pass. At daybreak on Wednesday the Russians captured a small fortification in the region of Zavadok, killing all the German defenders. German counter-attacks, in massed formation, were repelled with great losses. At Wyszkow sanguinary fighting continues. Two thousand prisoners were taken in two days."
