Italian wheat has been sold in Germany at thrice the figure obtainable on the Italian side of the frontier. Germany is paying fabulous prices for foodstuffs, metals, petrol, and rubber. Women have been discovered crossing the Dutch frontier bringing in petrol in specially-designed receptacles hidden beneath their petticoats. Investigation of a copper case at Copenhagen disclosed that smuggling has been in operation since October, a syndicate operating for a German millionaire at, Hamburg. • " /
