TURKISH CAMPS BOMBARDED
(Received February 22, 8.10 a.m.) ATHENS, 20th February. Warships bombarded Turkish camps on the coast opposite Tenedos (a rocky island twelve miles south of the entrance to the Dardanelles). [There are two main forts at the entrance to the Dardanelles, the Sec'il Bahr (new castle of Europe), and l£um Kaleh (new castle of Asia), and theie are smaller forts. The battleships and cruisers mentioned above are of the pre-Dreadnought type, except the- Inflexible, which is a battle cruiser of somewhat earlier type 'than the New Zealand, carrying eight 12-inch guns. The Agamemnon, built in 1906j is a battleship of 16,500 tons, carrying four 12inch and ten 9.2-inch guns. The Cornwallis, built in 1901, has a displacement of 14,000 tons, and carries four 12-inch and twelve 6-inch guns. The Vengeance, 12,950 tons, built in 1899, carries the same armament as the Cornwallis. The Triumph was purchased from Chile at the outbreak of the RussoJapanese war, and is a battleship of 11,800 tons, carrying four 10-inch and fourteen 7.5-inch guns. The French battleship Suffren, 12,750 tons, was built in 1899 3 and carries four 12-inch guns, and ten 6.4-inch guns. The Gaulois, 11,260 tons, built in 1896, carries four 12-inch and ten 5.5-inch guns, and the Bouvet, 12,205 tons, carries two 12-inch, two 10.8-inch, and.eight 5.5-inch guns.]
