Mr. Donohoe's telegram was dated lGth Febuwry (Tuesday).

RETREAT UNDER DIFFICULTIES LONDON, 19th February. Telegrams trom Petrograd concerning events at Czernowitz prior to Mr. Martin Donohoe s telegrams state that the Russians retreated in good order. There were olten four feet of snow on the mountain paths. , The Tyroltse, by dropping loose rocks, harassed the retreaters. The Austnans felled trees and placed them across the defiles. ' The Russians overcame erormous difficulties. They destroyed all the bridges before they evacuated Czernowitz. RUSSIAN RETIREMENT BEYOND THE PRUTH The following message has been received from the High Commissioner: — LONDON, 19th February, 5 a m. "Petrograd reports that in Bukowina the Russian detachments fell back beyond the Pruth." [The Pruth liver runs through Bukowina, north of Czernowitz.]
