EXPLANATION OF A BOMBARDMENT. (Received February 17, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 16th February. With reference to the German statement that the British bombarded the undefended town of Swiikopmund, the commander at Simonstown states that on the date in question the German force from Swakopmund raided the British settlement at Wolfisch Bay, employing dynamite in the attack. The British auxiliary cruiser proceeded to Swakopmund and fired shells at the outer crane on the pier.
