GERMAN CANNOT GET WORK
ASKS TO BE ARRESTED. (BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 9th February. A young German named -Robert Emil Winkler, aged 25 'years, presented himself at the Auckland Police Station this morning, and a.sked that he be arrested. He stated that before the war broke put he wag employed by a hairdresser in the city, and ,on account of his nationality he had been thrown out of work and had found that h^s German birth debarred him from' getting work. Winkler was formaljy t%ken J n W custody on a charge of yagrappy. and came before Mr. Frazer, S.M., who remanded him for a week tq finable the police .to communicate wjth the im")itsry authpjities, remarking that if th.c circumstances were as stated it wou|d probably b.e a kindness to prisoner to intern him as a hostile alien.
