SOME PROGRESS ON THE COAST. PARIS. Bth February. Official.— '-Except for several small attacks on Nieuport and bombardment of the northern quarter of Soibsotis, the operations have been uneventful " (Received Febiuary 9, 9 a.m.) PA HIS. Bth Febiuarv. A communique states : There is a'violent aitillery due! at (iuinchy. We captured a trench west of Carenchv by a coup de main. We repulsed attacks at Massiges and Fontaine Madame. A violent infantry action is progressing at Bagatelle. .We have maintained our positions. The Prime Minister has received the following from the High Commissioner :— LONDON, Bth Feb., 4.40 p.m " Pans reports : South-west of Carency, the Allies successfully attacked a trench which had previously been mined. Tho defenders were all killed or captured. In the Argonne, the enemy made attacks j towards Pontaine Madame, but was repulsed. At Bagatelle a violent infantry action is proceeding. The latest news is that all the Allies' positions were maintained. I
