OUR MOUNTED TROOPS
TO THE EDITOR Sir.— Being a visitor to the camp at Trentham on Sunday last with several other fiiends, we were gieatly surprised to see the fine stamp of horses selected for the 3rd lleinforcements. We naturally expected that the best had gone, but such is not the case. As I believe the present mob is better than any previous lot, ib is certainly saying a good deal, as some really good animals have gone with the previous reinforcements. I hope the Defence Minister will give the citizens an opportunity of witnessing our mounted troopers march through the principal thoroughfares of the city. A display of this kind would be an incentive for young mon to join the ranks. It would also encourage citizens to take more interest in our troopers and to extend to thorn moie practical sympathy. — I am, etc., CITIZEN. Wellington, Bth February. A draft of men for the reinforcements at Tri-ntlmm will leave Wtwtporfc today, and a fiuthcr batch w ill follow on Saturday,
