AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
BUOYANT MARKET. (BT lELE3RAPH— PKUSS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 2nd February.. The,ye never have been wool sales in Auckland more keenly contested than the second series of tho 1914-15 season, which were held to-day. The buyers numbered 30, representative of England, France, America, and New Zealand. Most of the bidding came from English buyers, but at least one French representative was operating extensively. The buoyancy pf tho market surprised the most optimistic of farmers and brokers, tho valuations of the latter being substantially exceeded all the way through. Generally 'speaking, prices showed .111 all-round increase of about 2d per lb, as compared with those which ruled at the second sales last season. The total offerings were much less than 'those of the cori esponding sales of last ye?i - (5929 bales, as compared with 11.256). Taken as a whqle, the wool was not in good condition. The following table gives a comparison of tho prices at to-day's sale as compared with the 3ale in November last, the figures of which are given in parentheses : — Fine halfbrcd merinq (lid to 12id), 12d to 14id; fine cross, bred (lOd to lid), Hid to 13|d ; Shropshire and Romney (lid to \?,id), 12d to 14d ; medium crossbred (9id to 10£ d), lO^d to 12Jd ; coarse crossbred and Lincoln (B|d to lOJd), 9^d to 13d; inferior losj-stained and cotted (8d to B|d), 9id to 10id; first pieces (7^l to 9d), 8d to lOd ; perond pieces and bellies (sJjl to 6£d), s£d to 7d ; crutchings (7d to Bid), 7d to Sid ; locks (4d to Sd), 4.d to 6d.
