Supporters o,f the Liberal-Labour candidate have taken renewed heart of grace since last night, both the Labour rally and Sir Joseph Ward's Green Island meetings, being signally successful, On the other hand, Mr. Statham had a fine meeting at Mornington, of which the Times s.ays: — "It may be truly' described as one of the finest receptions ever accorded to a political candidate." The confidence of the respective parties regarding the final issue seems to be unshaken. The weather is glorious, and the polling will be heavy. Mr. Statham will not have the advantage of the previous election regarding motor-cars, as the "trade," having had th,e licensipg issue j settled for three years, is not called on to interfere it} the congest. As showing the interest being taken locally, it may be mentioned that both papers are to display progress results, as in the last General Election. The returning officer expects to have the poll declared soon after half-past 8 o'clock. Absent voters' permits, of which an un1 usually large number have been issued, may vary the unofficial declaration.
