APPOINTMENTS OF N.C.O.'S PAY OF SERGEANTS. Captain N P. Adams, New Zealand Field Artillery, has been appointed camp adjutant, vice Major J R. Pinwill, Imperial General Staff, who will accompany the 3rd Reinforcements to Europe. The following temporary appointments of non-commissioned officers have been approved by the camp commandant (Lieutenant-Colonel H. R. Potter): — Headquarters Staff. — J. A MATTER OF PAY It was notified to-day that those who are not non-cOmmisskmed officers of th«s New Zealand Territorial Force, and who join the sth (and subsequent) Reinforcements to receive preliminary instruction with a view to appointment as n.c.o.'a (temporary) of Reinforcements, will x - 6 ceive pay as privates during their instructional period in camp,,, When tho men Of the Reinforcements join the camp, such of the above us are then appointed u.c.o.'s (temporary) of the Reinforce mente will receive back pay of the rank to which they are so appointed, calculated from the date when they first camfc into camp for special instruction a* n.c.o.'s. It is directed that it must be clearly understood that the appoint ment of n.c.o.'s to Reinforcements is of a temporary nature only, and such appointments are liable to lapse on arrival at the base or on disembarkation. GIFTS RECEIVED. Gifts have been received in camp and issued as follow : — From Mrs. Edale, Marton, one fcase of plums and one sack of beans, issued to 3rd Mounteds; from G. M'Kee, New Plymouth, seven sacks of vegetables, one case plums, issued to Mounteds, cookhouse, hospital ; from J. G. Castle, Petone, 1 sack vegetables, issued to departments ; from F. White, Woodvillo, and Mayor of Wellington, one parcel each of reading matter, issued to Salvation Army Institute. The Camp Commandant has issued an order thanking the Executive Committee, the Non-commiseioned , Officers' Committee, the Camp Band, and all those who rendered assistance in various capacities, for the efficient manner in which they performed their duties in connection with the camp sports on Saturday last. The success of the meeting was largely due to their energy and keenness. He hsis also congratulated the troops generally on their smart turnout and orderly behaviour.
