HEAVY RAIN PROBABLE
The muggy, unpleasant weather conditions continue, and a change of any sort will probably be welcome. That change,, according to Mr. B. V. Pemberton, is very likely to happen soon. A combination of atmospheric systems surrounding these islands has accounted for the dull and misty weather which has prevailed, particularly south of New Plymouth and Napier. During the past twenty-four hours drizzling rain has fallen in various 'districts, while this morning steady rain was reported in many parts of the South Island. The winds have been moderate to strong, and have come from various directions. In and about Cook Strait north-west winds have persisted. The forecast is for unsettled and cloudy- weather, with rain generally, with the prospect of heavy downpours south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, which, of course, includes Wellington. Strong westerly winds are likely to change round to south very shortly, and the weather will then be _ cooler. Heavy, though welcome, rain set in in the city to-day, "and gladened the heart of • the amateur gardener. FARMERS JUBH/ANT. (BT TELEGRAPH— PRESS iSSOCUTION) MASTERTON, This Day. After a protracted drought, which has caused grave anxiety to the farmers, steady, warm rain set in this morning and has every appearance of continuing. The farmers are jubilant.
