In the Argonne, west of Haute Chevachee, tlie enemy arrived and exploded the French first line of trenches, but a violent attack immediately following was repulsed by the bayonet. The French took prisoners and are maintaining the front. The Allies' offensive continued in the region of Th&nn and Altkirch, with important results.
