WHEAT IN NEW SOUTH WALES
GOVERNMENT SEIZURE. * SYDNEY, 24th December A Proclamation authorises the seizure of the whole of the State's wheat, crop, amounting to fifteen million bushela My. Hall, the Minister, states that there is clear evidence that certain perBons are endeavouring to evade the Act. The destination of large quantities of grain was doubtful, and semtre was the only effective measure for conserving the wheat for home requirements. SYDNEY, 25th December. The Government lias issued a Rcgtt' lation prescribing the form whereby compensation may be claimed under the Wheat Acquisition Act. Mr. Hall y states that 90 per cent, of the wheat' trade is quits satisfied with the Government's action. Air. Hughes (Federal Attorney-Gen-eral) thinks that \i the seizure prevents inter-State trade the question of the rights of tho Commonwealth And other Slates' interests may arise.
