The Lord Erne left New York ou the 3rd November, aud reached Panama eight days later. Here a stop was made for two days to take in coal, and then the Lord Erne entered the Canal. Like the steamer Caldergrove, at present at Wellington, she encountered trouble in the Culebra Cut, and as the result of the landslides Mas delayed for three daje, and even when a channel was cleared the steamer ran aground for a short time, fortunately sustaining no damage. Heavy south-west and north-west gales during the last twelve days of the voyage across the Pacific further retarded the vessel's progress, compelling her to heave-to more than once. The Lord Erne is commanded by Captain Unwan, who has the following officers :— Chief , Mr R McMurty: second, Mr R. Lockhart; third, slr N W.Hamilton. Engineers: Chief, Mr James Hudson; second, Mr G. B. Lindrum; third, Mr J. Spiller; fourth. Mr C. Gresby THE QUEEN MARGARET Advice from Sydney states that the Queen Margaret left Newcastle at 5 p.m. on Friday for Auckland to commence Homeward loading on behalf of the New Zealand Shipping Company.
