HARRY THAW'S CASE
extradition; ordered. (By Telegraph— Press Association— Copyright) (Received December 22, 11.40 a.m. WASHINGTON, 22nd December. The United States Supreme Court has ordered Hairy Thaw to be delivered' to the New York State authorities to answer a charge of conspiracy to escape from the Mattewan Criminal Asylum. The decision practically disposes of the extradition problem as between the New Hampshire and New York States. The conspiracy indictment still requires a trial, and it is likely that it will be another year before Thaw is incarcerated again.
Boys and girls desirous of learning the very useful art of swimming are invited to attend the To Aro Baths to-morrow afternoon, when Mr. T. Shields 'will reopen his classes. Mr. Shields's work in the past in this connection is well known. He gives his time gratuitously, and it only remains for non-swimmers to take advantage of the opportunity which is offered them. In the past tne classes havo been very successful. It is stated by the Manawatu Standard- that Mi-. Thos. Dillon, of Wellington, is making excellent progress with the new bridge over the Pohangina Eiver, at the Piripiri crossing. The whole of the ironbark piles have been driven, and the work of tho superstructure . is well forward.
