Robin, C.8., C.M.G., Commandant- and Quartermas-ter-General^ New Zealand Forces ; Colonel J C. W Tate, officer commanding the Wellington Military District, and Commander Wellington Infantry Brigade ; Lieuten-ant-Colonel J. E. Hume, Royal New Zealand Artillery, officer commanding the Auckland Military, District. At the Bank of New Zealand meeting to-day special reference was made to the deafchof the Hon. Thomas Fergus, a comparatively recent addition to the directorate by appointment of the Government Since his accession to the board, said the Chairman, he had displayed such a lively interest in the business, and had assisted in the deliberations with so much ability' and business acumen, that his co-directors had formed high hopes of his future services. Endowed with wide experience and matured judgment, his removal from their councils, when little past the prime of life, was greatly to be deplored. The board had fittingly recorded upon its minutes a resolution of appreciation of the late gentlemen's services to the bank, and of sympathy with his relatives in their bereavement.
