Senator Pearce (Minister for Defence) has emphatically denied a rumour that thrt Australasian forces in Egypt have been engaged with the enemy. AUTONOMY FOR TRENT AUSTRIA'S OFFER. The journal Nazijnale 1 confirms Austria's offer of au£ohomy to the district of Trentino, the subject to remain in. abeyance till Prince Buelow's arrival. [Trent is a , town in Austria, in the South Tyrol. Trent was Italian from 1809 to 1813, and is still quite Italian in aspect, language, . and habits. The restoration of it and the Trentino district, with Trieste, is the aim of irredentist agitation.]
