MR. WILLIAMS AT BERHAMPORE.
COST OF LIVING AND NAVAL DEFENCE. Mr. E. B. Williams addressed a considerable number of electors at the Masonic Uall, Berhampore, last night. He complained that both the Government and the Opposition had failed to deal with the cost of living, and went on to outline a scheme for naval defence which would have supplied several cruisers of the City of Birmingham type instead of the New Zealand — a small fleet to cope with the sea-rovers of. the Germans that had threatened these shores. At the i conclusion of his address Mr. Williams, who did not desire a vote of confidence, was accorded a unanimous vote of j thanks.
