SALE OF UNCLAIMED GOODS
, A sale of miscellaneous property long left on the hands of the Harbour Board was held at P Store to-day There was a large attendance and much speculation. The lots ranged from perambulators to barbed wire, from chemical manures to kitchen ranges. There was a good quantity of packages of personal effects in mostly damaged and wellworn receptacles. A sack of clothes went for Is, and six boxes of prunes for 15s. The boxes, packages, and cases fetched most, for "we know no more what is in them'than you do," said the auctioneer (Mr. James Dykes). Presumably the customers knew the character of the contents of the surprise packets, and possibly some of the bidders had an inkling, for while some cases realised 3s others went for 255. A good clearance appeared to be likely, as the sale proceeded, The Post going to press before its conclusion.
The following resignations were accepted by the Education Board yesterday : — Miss D. Fitch Training College ; Mr. G. P. Cook, Waione ; Mr. H. Henderson, Hutt; Mrs. C. Keir, Stokes Valley ; Miss M. E. Stevens, Taw'a Flat ; Miss C. F. Macdonald (typiste). Messrs. T. Armstrong and Co., of Christchurch, are the successful tenderers for Messrs. Macky, Logan and Co.'c salvage stock at Napier.
