A DESPERATE ADVENTURE

VOLUNTEERS BLOW UP A CONVOY LONDON, 24th November. The Allies last week attacked Lombaertzyde (above Nieuport) prior to an assault. News had been received that a large convoy of ammunition had reached an old fort, and s a Briti&h colonel called for two volunteers to blow up the convoy. They succeeded. The infantry dashed on Lombaertzyde, caught the Germans in confusion, and cleared the town, an English monitor causing heavy losses during the retreat. Both volunteers escaped unhurt.
