CANDIDATES' ADDRESSES

EGMONT SEAT. (BT TBLBGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) ELTHAM, This Day. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, member for Egmont, held a meeting in the Town Hall last night. The audience was not large, but very friendly. The candidate defended the actions of the Massey Government, and made a strong defence of the local navy proposals. He advocated tariff reform, raising of license fees for hotels, and an increased beer tax. He asked for a free hand on Legislative Council reform, as he thought the present Bill was a mistake. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed unanimously.
