KAISER'S REPLY TO CONDOLENCES. "SHE GATHERED LAURELS EVEN IN HER LAST BATTLE." (Received Novemßer 19, 9 a.m.). AMSTERDAM, 18th November. The Kaiser, replying to a message of condolence from the town of Emden, alludes to the tragic but heroic end of the cruiser Emden. which gathered laurels even in her ia-st battle. He adds : "A new and stronger Em> den will rise, to the bow of which the Iron Cross will be attached in memory of her predecessor. MANY OF THE CREW PRISONERS. SINGAPORE, 18th November. Official.— lso, of the Emden's complement are prisoners of war. , MULLER'S GALLANTRY COMPLIMENT TO A CAPTAIN'S WIFE. LONDo"N7IBth November. Mr. Bucknall, an officer on the eteamer Kabinga, relates that when that vessel was captured by the Emden, the latter's commander (Captain Midler) learnt that the Kabinga's captain's wife ahd .children, were on board. He thereupon presented' the ship to the lady, telling- the captain to inform the ownem that so far ac they were concerned the ship had been seized and sunk. THE NAVY'S LOSSES 3677 KILLED. 465 WOUNDED, 6 MISSING. (Received November 19, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 18th November. Mr. Winston Chufchill, First Lord of the Admiralty, announced that the total losses in the Navy to date were:— 222 officers and 3455 men killed, 37 officers and 428 men wounded, five officers and one man missing. These figures are now revealed for the first time. (Received November 19, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 18th November. The figures cabled regarding the Naval casualties do not include the Good Hope's 875 men or the 1000 navals interned in Holland.,
