MR. WILFORD'S REPLY TO MR. HERDMAN
to TUB B6ITOR. Sir,— Last night the flou. Mr. Herdm&n and Mr. Barr entered the lists to disprove my statement that 499 appeals / had been lodged by the Post and Tele- • graph Department and only 45 had been heard. 1 thank them far their admissions. They have proved 'my statements to the hilt. They admit I quoted correctly from a return placed befote Parliament by M|f. 'H.erdman, and Mr. Barr confirms my etrictureSj for he says: "Officers can be more readily dealt with in groups," etc. He further says : "The board is, however, hearing every appel* lant where in its judgment it is necessary to do eO,' 1 etc. That admission, proves my contention that all are not personally heard who appeal Mr, Herd" man and Mi. Barr also forget ihat in a. footnote to the return referred to, it is stated that the board sat continuously, and "some" of the "Wellington" appeals have been heard. 1 again thank Mr,. Herdman and Mr. Ban for their reply, which confirms all 1 have stated.— l am, etc.. THOMAS M. WILFOBD* 19th November.
