BRITISH VESSELS WRECKED Reports of the loss of 04 British vessels (40 steamers and 14 sailers), representing a net tonnage of 31,106 tons, u'ere received at the Board of Trade during September. The num- ] ber of lives lost with these vessels was 101. The I explanation of the loss of such an exceptional amount of steam tonnage lies in the fact that the total includes 18 steatnere, of 21,581 tons net, sunk by German warships, and 9 steamers of 1564 tons net, sunk by mines in the North Seu. The lives lost {include 76 persons, who perished in steamers sunk by mines in the North Sea. The ilgures are a record of "reports received" and not of all wrecks which occurred during the month, many of the reports received in September relating to casualties which occurred in previous months. Casualties not resulting in total loss of vessels, and the lives lost by such casualties, are not included TUG MAHUTU SOLD The sale is announced of the Auckland tug Mahutu to Captain Lovell, of Napier.
