Murray, Roberts and Co. (Mr. Bannister, auctioneer) catalogued 2997 bales. Owing to the very fine weather experienced, shearing has been early and without a break, and this, no doubt, combined with the desire of many growers to take advantage of the high prices ruling, tended to considerably enlarge the quantity usually forward for November sales. The wool opened up in bright, attractive condition, being for the most part very soundly grown 1 , although there were some instances of short stapled wool. A few bush-stained parcels were offered, these also being earlier than usual. Bidding was free, with keen competition, especially for the lightest and most attractive wools, which made high figures. Up to 13d was obtained for Romneys, while half-breds made up to 13§d. Pieces and crutchings made up to 9£d and 9|d. Compared with the prices of the opening sale here last season values were about 2d per 1b higher for crossbreds and half-breds, while for the few merinos offered prices declined Id to lJ^d as compared with last December sale.
