A GREAT SOLDIER DEATH OF LORD ROBERTS
AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS. WHILE ON A VISIT TO FRANCE. (By Telegraph.— Press" Association.— Copyright.) LONDON, 14th November. Field-Marshal Lord Roberts is dead. (Received November 16, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 15th Novemebr. Lord Roberts was making a brief visit to th© Indian troops, of which he was Colonel-hi'Chief, -when he contracted a chill on Thursday, and succumbed to pneumonia. (Received November 16; 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, 15th November. Lord Roberts had been remarkably active since the beginning of the war, and had dealt with a vaist amount of correspondence to friends in the Army, to whom he gave advice and sympathy. He had been a constant visitor to Government Departments, and was apparently in Tobust health. The suddenness of his death, therefore, caused a great shock. Many v references were made in the churches to his death.
