ROWING
WELLINGTON NAVALS 1 CLUB. The annual meeting of the Wellington Navals' Boating Society was held in the clubhouse on Friday. The annual report and balance-sheet (showing an excess of £253 9s 3d of assets over liabilities) were adopted. Thanks were accorded to Colonel J. Duncan, Mr. J. Alexander, and Mr. E. T. Taylor, for donations. The report stated that during the year the society was affiliated with the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, and the question of colours was now awaiting acceptance. The colours proposed were black body, with white V-shaped yoke front and back. The Whitev Horse Whisky Cup was still being competed for. The old cutters having been sold, arrangements wero made for the race to be rowed in a light one. After an exciting race, the Petone Club won by about half a length. The committee had had drainage installed at a cost of £40. The Roberts sailing cup rules were altered, and rules were drawn up that the Cup be for tho society's maiden fours. Two crews competed for it last season, and the committee reported that the members were anxious this season to take on outrigger rowing. During the year Messrs. R. H. Davenport, P. M. Campbell, P. Dunne, and W. E. Armstrong resigned from the committee, and Messrs! C. Hankins, E. papier, F._ W. Gardiner, and A. Parker were appointed in their stead. Thanks were accorded to members for donations of ' books, and the committee reported that good use .had been made ot tho library during the winter months. The social committee had been of valuable assistance, and their funds showed a balance of £19 18s 6d Members w«ro now showing a very keen interest in
rowing and sailing, bufc the present crisis was being felt. Thanks were due to Messrs. J. Alexander and F. Taylor for continued support in the matter of advising and of attending to various requirements; also to n the committee, helped by a few energetic members. The social committee placed on record its appreciation of the services of Mr. F. A. Fiebig, who had retired from the position of secretary. "Mr. J. Alexander was chairman of the meeting. As so many members were engaged on military duty, the election of officers and other business was postponed.
