LOSSES ON YEAR'S OPERATIONS.

At the annual meeting of the Taiori and Peninsula Milk Supply Co., held today, the chairman stated that the year's operations liad resulted in a losb. This was due in the 1 first place to the waterside workers' strike, at the end of which several steamers left for England together, causing a 'glut vi the market there and a serious drop 111 pnees. The company sold the early portion, of • tt« butter output at a good figure, but th©n being unable to secure shipment coil- _ <racts lapsed, and European countries secured the business. 1 Regarding the " outside madkets, th© , speaker said South Africa had not been by a,ny means as good ac hi previous years, as this country was now adopting .1 dairying policy the sa«ieas was in ' vogue in the Dominion, and in the near future would grow onough produce for her own requirements. The only time vhen they would come in was when rinderpest and other pest* affected the South African cattle. The company had been endeavouring to get produce into the San Francisco and Vancouver mar kets and had met with a certain amount of success, but the action of the Government in penalising the South Island in f)ip way of freights had given the maniigemont a very big uphill fight. The management' had been lately endeavouring to get produce introduced into Boston. New York, and Chicago. A small amount of success had been achieved, bi»t tUo disastrous war stopped all operations there. In the "meantime it , *vsa decided that a dividend of 6 pel* cent, be paid, and to become payable on 19th February, 1915. \
