CROMWELL'S "IRONSIDES "
DESCRIPTION OF KITCHENER'S RECRUITS. (Received October 31, 10.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr. J. R. Smith, a New Zealand journalist, has arrived from London. Referring to the type of Kitchener's Tecruite, he said he was told by an officer that one lot of 50,000 remiMed him of Cromwell's. Ironsides. They were selected from Methodiste, Presbyterians, and Baptists, and were filled with religious fervour and prayed nightly to God to strengthen their hands to break Prussian militarism.
