"SIXTY YEARS A QUEEN."

I Monday night will see the first screening at the King's Theatre of Barker's All-British 7000 ft film success, "Sixty Years a Queen." The picture made a. great impression at Auckland. Of it the Star said;— " What is probably one of the finest historical pictures yet presented through the Inedium of cinematography was shown to delighted audiences yesterday afternoon and last night. The title is 'Sixty Years a Queen,' and it deab with the life and reign of 'Victoria the Good.' Apart altogether from the excellence of the portraiture, and the interest which would always be manifested in a faithful representation of the life of a favourite sovereign, the showing of this picture comes at a most opportune time. Nearly all the outstanding deeds which helped to win the Empire are woven into the story, and last night it was good indeed to feel the wave of patriotic feeling which passed through the building during the~ screening of stirring scenes of the Crimean \var, of the Indian Mutiny, of the South African Wat, etc., etc. Events of Imperial significance such as the purchase by England of the Hudson Bay Territory, the finding of the first nugget of gold in Australia (also its subsequent presentation to the Queen), the purchase b~y Disraeli of a controlling share in tho Suez Canal, lend a historical significance to the picture, which renders it superbly interesting to old and young." A lecture by Mr. Barrie Marschel will add to the educational value of the film. Seats may be reserved at the Dresden.
