COOKING FOR INVALIDS
TRAINING OF NURSES. An interesting report on cookery for invalids and the training of nurses in that branch of work was received by the Technical Education Board last evening. The Dn'ector, Mr. W. S. Latrobe, reported that Miss Bennie had stated that the attendance of nurses at the -present classes for the teaching of invalid cookery was irregular, and the course was too short. The training was of such a fragmentary nature that the certificates could not be given. The report had been submitted to the House Committee of the Hospital Board, and had that body's concurrence. He suggested, as the rational solution of the problem, the establishment of a dietician's laboratory and kitchen at the Hospital, where a course under the dietician should bo an integral part of a nurse's training. Meanwhile it was suggested that the instructress should be sent up to the Hospital twice weekly. In place of fees, a fixed remuneration from the Hospital to the college of £35 to £40 per annum was suggested. This would be a fair remuneration to the instructress if paid over to her. When room was,, available, it was suggested that outside students should Be admitted /to the hospital classes. The board adopted the report, which is to be submitted to the House Committee of the Hospital Board.
