DEFENCE NEWS

RIFLE SHOOTING. The Wellington Suburbs Defence Rifle Club will fire teams matches on Satur* day next at the club range/ Broadway, Miramar. The teams will be picked on the range by the president (Mr. C. R. Graham) and deputy-president (Mr. J. Smart). Ammunition can be had at Mr. J. L. Turner's. New members are requested to be present. Shooting will commence at 2 sharp. The Highland Rifle Club will open its season with a practice shoot, over 300 and 500 yards, at Trent ham on Saturday. A good opportunity presents itself to anyone desirous of learning how to shoot with a modern riflo. Evory i'acility and eucouragemont to become expert shots will be given by the members of the club, and ammunition will be issued on the range. A special train will leave Lambton Station at 1.40 p.m.. Free passes will be issued on applying to, a member of the committee. SENIOR CADETS. The first meeting of the N.C.O's of No. 41 Company Senior Cadets was spent in the Brooklyn Glee Club rooms last evening. A large variety of games were indulged in, Master C. Stockbridge being at the piano. Altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent.
