Wales, have enrolled in Lord Kitchener's Army. DISASTER TO AIRCRAFT FIVE GERMAN AEROPLANES BROUGHT DOWN. (Received October 27, 8.50 a.m.) PARIS, 26th October. Two German aeroplanes were shot down at Montdidier, a third at Reims, a fourth at Gravelines, and a fifth at Amiens. [Montdidier is 20 miles south-east of Amiens ; Gravelines is close to the French coast, about halfway between Dunkirk and Calais-] , WHEN THE SLUICES WERE OPENED FIGHTING IN THE WATER FOR MANY HOURS. A captured Bavarian officer states that when the Allies opened the sluices at Dixmude his regiment was compelled to fight in trenches up to their hips in water for many hours. [Aixrat one-sixtieth part of Belgium consists of "polders" or land which is kept free from inundation by dykes, and much of the coast land is below the level of the sea and is fringed by sand dunes. The polders can all be flooded at will.] BELGIAN FARMERS OPENINGS FOR THEM IN SASKATCHEWAN. (HUM And stdnet son seiivicm.) LONDON, 25th October. An organised movement has been started at Regina, to induce Belgian farmers to settle in Saskatchewan. [Saskatchewan, a province of the Dominion of Canada, was constituted in 1905 oat of the former territory of Saskatchewan, together with half of Athabasca, and the greater part of Assiniboia, the extended Alberta- absorbing the rest. Saskatchewan has great areas of fertile wheat-land. The area of the province is 253,000 square miles, and the population 492,400. Regina is the capital.]
