'A communique states that the Russians beyond the Vistula are closely following the retreating enemy. The Germans only feebly resisted north of the River Pilica, and were pushed back to Skierniewice. The Austro-German troops were forced to accept a serious battle south of the Pilica, where tho^fighting on Friday was over a front of twenty-six miles. The Russians carried out bayonet charges in the forests at Radom, and took many prisoners and machine guns. Desperate fighting on the San, south of Przemysl, favoured the Russians. Five Austrian companies were taken prisoners at Tytchentza Heights, south of Jaroslav. Attacks south of Przemysl were repulsed, and at Stryj a thousand men were taken prisoners.
