ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL
The ordinary meeting of the Onslow Borough Council held last night was attended by the Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump), and Councillors B. Lynneberg, J. C. Gardner, L. A. Browne, Colin Monro, C. Bowden, Donald Munro, A. H. Hoby, and R. A. Nic«l. The council resolved to write to the Minister of Railways asking that a second petrol motor-car be put on the Sunday suburban service on the Manawatu line. The bequest of thirty plantation seats, etc., from the estate of the late Mr. John Newton, was gratefully accepted on the conditions mentioned. The Reserves Committee was instructed to make enquiries in regard to the matter, and report at a later meeting. The Mayor paid a warn tribute to the late Mr. Newton's public spirit. As the result of a complaint from Mr. H. L. James with reference to furious motor driving on the Ngaio and Khandallah roads, it was decided to take steps to see if such could not be abated. The council went into committee to deal with a letter from the Minister of Railways regarding the control of the new Hutt-road and other matters.
