PREFERRED TO FIGHT TO THE DEATH
AN OFFICER WHO £>REW LOTS. LONDON, 12th October. TelGgrAms giving details oi the bombardment of Antwerp state that four officers in Fort St. Marie drew lots as to who should remain and fight to the death. The lot fell to a married man With a family, and another volunteered to take his pla-oe. The offer Was reluctantly accepted and the three other officers farewelled their 1 heroic comrade.
