SUMMER-LIKE WEATHER

Perfect weather, ’ sunny and without much . wind, has followed the unsettled conditions which prevailed locally for somo time. Wellington has had a little rain, but not enough, a-ccordinig to the amateur gardener, to do much good. A few scattered showers have been reported from various districts, but many parts are once again deserted _by tho clouds. The barometer has risen everywhere, and the strong westerly winds have veered to the south, with decreased energy. For the next 24 hours or so moderate to strong southerly winds will probably prevail, and the barometer will rise further. Fair to cloudy iveather is likely, with showers in the .South. A cold night is predicted.
