(Received October 5, 8 a.m.) i LONDON, 4th October., Tho Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfiekl mafket quotations for the undermentioned classos of frozen meat ai-o based on actual sales of hot lese than one hundred carcases of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five quarters of beef of failaverage quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of tho bulk of the shipments now on the market. The prices which follow aro on tho average a farthing per ib moro than tho values ex ship, this difference representing the average cost in expense, handling, conveyance and selling of the meat: — Now Zealand Sheep.— 'Canterbury, light, medium, and heavy, all 53d; Southland and North Island, s|d ; ewes, s<d. South Amorican Sheep. — Light, s£d; heavy, 5Ad. New Zealand Lambs. — Canterbury, light, 6?d; second quality, 6 946 d; medium, 6§d ; heavy, 6|d. Now Zealand Beef. — Fores, s«d; hinds, 6fd. Australian Sheep.— Wethers, 5 5-16 d. ' * Jute.— -Native, first marks, Ootober shipment, £19. SILVER. Bar silver is quoted at 23gd per ounce standard. BREADSTUFFS. (Received Ootober 5, 8 a.m.) LONDON, 4th October. The wheat market shows a further decline, _ owing to continued weakness in America and increased pressure to sell. For West Australian arrived, 43s is asked. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,800,000 quarters; for tho Continent 1,800,000 quarters; Atlantic shipments, 248; Pacific, 32. Tho total shipment to Europe during the week totalled 1,220,000 quarters, including 69,000 from India/; from other countries, nil.
