B and Island Bay were thus left to .contest the final, and from the commencement both teams set out in earnest to win the set of medals. The initial stages favoured Island Bay, their opponents conceding a corner. A dangerous Y.M. attack was well saved by Roberts, who sent his side away, an attractive movement ending in Wilson sending the ball honie. 1--0. Another chance was missed just afterwards, and then V.M.C.A. assumed the aggressive, this time with better results, Paton experiencing little difficulty in equalising the scores. Island Bay, however, play* ing a good spectacular game, and showing a good judgment in placing the ball, soon resumed the lead, Condor scoring. The second spell opened with strong en* deavours by the Young Men to even up matters, but these were only met by an additional reverse, Wilson again scoring for the Bay. Further strenuous efforts by V.M.C.A. were of no avail, and the game ended — Island Bay, 3 goals and a. corner; V.M.C.A. B, 1 goal. The members of the winning team were :* — J. Roberts, L. Myers (captain), F. Sweeney, L. Condor, and H. Wilson.
