General Botha, tho Prime Minister, in addreseing his constituents, emphasised the point that ideas of neutrality, as preached by General Beyers (late Commander-in-Chief of the Union Forces), were nonsense. He contended that as Britain had been drawn into awar of defence it was essential for strategical purposes to tai|e German SouthWeet Africa. Those who supported the Germans to put down the Herero rising are now armed, and will probably serve on the border.
