FLOWER SHOW AT UPPER HUTT
Congratulations are due to the Upper Hutt Horticultural Society on the success of its initial spring flower show, which was opened at the Upper Hutt Town Hall yesterday afternoon by the Rev. J. H. Sykes. The proceeds are to be devoted to one of the Patriotic Funds, and the means adopted to raise money included the sale of flowers by Misses Whiteman and Gibbons (2), and of a pair of bantams presented by Mrs. Swanson. Features of the show were the fine displays for exhibition purposes only by Mrs. A. E. Pearce, Mr. C. H. Izard, Messrs. F. Cooper, Ltd., and Mr. Thomas Waugh. Awards were made as follow: — ■ Spring flowers, best collection, Mrs. A. E. Pearce 1, Mrs. F. W. Kemp 2 ; narcissi, best collection, Mrs. A. E. Pearce 1, Miss W. Routley 2; narcissi, twelve varieties, Mrs. A. E. Pearce ; narcissi, trumpet varieties, W. Routley ; narcissi, three varieties, Mrs. A. E. Pearce ; narcissi; Sir Watkin, H. W. Lepper ; narcissi, three blooms, H. W. Lepper ; narcissi, red-cups, Mrs. A. E. Pearce ; daffodils, trumpet, Mrs. A.^ E. Peaice ; polyanthus, best collection, Mrs. A. E. Pearce ; polyanthus, six blooms, E. B. Brown ; primroses, Miss Alice Gibbons 1, W. Routley 2; hyacinths, best collection, Mrs. H. A. Reid 1, Mrs. J. M. Whiteman 2 ; anemones, best collection, Mrs. A.
