HARBOUR BOARD
A very brief meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last evening, the business being confined to the passing of accounts, the reading of a few unimportant letters, and the appointment of two new officers to the pilot staff. The members present were Messrs. R. Fletcher (Chairman), C. W. Jones, H. h. Nathan, J. G. Harkness, J. Trevor, J. "W. M'Ewen, J. Cobbe, A. D. Kennedy, C. E. Daniel!, E. A. Wright, and A. H. IJindmarsh, and Captain Watson. Accounts were passed for payment as follows:— .Accounts and wages, £15,440 8s; progress payments on contracts, £1,646 7s 7d ; salaries for September, £915 3s 6d ; total. £18,001 19s Id. The credit balances were reported to be : — ■ Current acco.unt. £11,998 13s 5d ; impressed account, £1163 4s 6d ; fixed deposit, £70,000.
