During the present season 30,000 trout ova have been liberated in the streams about Masterton by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society. Otto hundred and fifty thousand trout fry have been sent so far this season from the Masterton fishponds to districts beyond Maaterton. In Wellington at the present time is Mr. James M'Cleary, of Dunedin, who was a prominent figure in Otago Rugby football circles for many years. Mr. M'Cleary ig an erstwliile resident of Wellington, where he played for the Old Union Football Club, and he recalls the times when he took part in matches on the Hon. John Martin's paddock, adjoining the Salvation Army Citadel in Vivianstreet, and also on the Hobson-street paddock, now the site of some fine rest* dences. During the early part of ma residence in Dunedin he was a member of the famous Alhambra Club and repre* sented Otago on several occasions. He has accompanied the Otago Rugby team on its present tour, and will return to Dunedin to-night. Referring to the match against Marlborough yesterday he informed a Post reporter to-day ( that the fight put up against the visitors was worthy of all praise, and true representative form was shown by some of ths local men.
