The German corps which reinforced the Austrians is now retreating. CAUSE OF AUSTRIAN LOSSES (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) (Received September 19, 8 a.m.) t, , , 4 it L iV LONDON, 18th September. jFetrograd reports attribute the enormous Austrian losses largely to the fact that raw Landsturm troops are often placed in the firing line. In the recent fighting at Josefow Russian cavalry enveloped the Austrian flank before it was able ta deploy, while the Cossack batteries mowed down the entire formations of the leading companies. Whole battalions bolted and hid in the woods.
