GENERAL DELAREY'S DEATH (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) CAPETOWN, 17th September. Generals Botha and Smute are taking steps to counteract a misapprehension in the minds of a section of the Dutch population that there is some connection between General Beyers's resignation and General Delarey's death. The Government accepted the resignation with regret a few hours Before. They do not intend to appoint a successor at present. The police have since surrounded the bandits on a- reef kopje. HOME RULE. LONDON, 17th September. The House of Lords has passed through, all its stages the Government's Bill suspending the operation of the Home Rule Bill for at least twelve months, or until the cessation of the war. BOILERMAKERS' STRIKE. SYDNEY, 17th September. One hundred and fifty boilermakcrs employed at the naval dockyards struck owing to the employment of labourers on boilermakers' work. For the Imperial Challenge Shields the senior competition was won by St. Anne's College, Nova Scotia, with an average of 93.6.
