FILLING UP VACANCIES LIST OF NEW APPOINTMENTS. NEW DISTRICT COMMANDERS. Owing to a large number of officers of the Headquarters and District Staffs being about to leave Now Zealand with the Main Expeditionary Force for the front, it has become necessary to appoint , other officers to carry on their duties during their absence. Temporary appointments are accordingly being made as follow :— ■ ■ HEADQUARTERS STAFF. Colonel A. W. Robin, C.8., C.M.G., T.D., New Zealand Staff Corps, Quar-termaster-Geaieral to the Forcefe, to be Commandant of the New Zealand Military Forces and Quartermaster-General. Lieut. -Colonel C. M. Gibbon, General Staff Officer, to be Chief of the General Staff. Major H. E. Pilkington, Royal New Zealand Artillery, Assistant-Adjntant-General. to be Adjutant-General of the Forces. Captain Frank Hudson, New Zealand Staff Corps, of the General Staff at Headquarters, to be Assistant Military Secre* tary, Aide-de-Camp to the Commandant, and editor of the New Zealand Military Journal. Captain A. C. Robinson, Army Ser vice Corps. Assistant Director of Sup. plies and Transport, to be Inspector of the Army Service Corps. The following are attached to the general staff at headquarters : — Lieutenant W. B. P. Thriug, Royal New Zealand Artillery; Second Lieutenant Edward Purdon, New Zealand Staff Corps, with the temporary rank of lieutenant while so employed ; Colonel J. R. Purdy, M.8., T.D. . honorary physician to His Excellency the Governor, reserve of officers, New Zealand Medical Corps, to be Director of Medical Services; Captain (temporary Major) W. L. Robinson, New Zealand Staff Corps, from Assistant Quartermaster-General in a district, to be an Assistant Quartermaster-General at headquarters, with the temporary rank of major while so employed. THE DISTRICT STAFFS. The commands of the various districts which have been rendered vacant will be filled as follows:— Auckland: Colonel C. T. Major, D.5.0., commander of the Auckland Infantry Brigade since 17th March, 1911. Wellington: Colonel R. W. Tate, of Carterton, commander of the Wellington Infantry Brigade since 17th March, 1911. Otago : Colonel J. Nichols, V.D., A.D.C., commander 01 the Otago Mounted Rifles Brigade since 17th March, 1911. The following have been appointed General Staff officers in districts, with the temporary rank of Major: — Captain D. A. Hickey, r£S.O., Now Zealand Staff Corps; Captain W. C. Morrison, New Zealand Staff Corps ; Captain W. C. Finnis, New Zealand Staff .Corps. Assistant Quartermasters-Gdneral in districts, with the temporary rank of major while so employed, have been appointed as follows: — Captain S. A. Grant. New Zealand Staff Corps; Captain J. E. Barton, New Zealand Staff' Corps. Lieutenant Gordon James Rust, unattached list (b), will command an area group, with the temporary rank of captain while so employed. Officers commanding districts have been instructed to select a sufficient number of officers and non-commissioned officers to carry on the district work during the absence of the permanent staff officers with the Expeditionary Force. '
