OFFICIAL NEWS

The following official message was received by the Premier to-day :— LONDON, 10th Sept., 3.25 p.m. Official. — General Franch reports battle continued yesterday. Enemy has been driven back all along the line. British First Army Corps has buried 200 Germans, taken twelve Maxim guns and some^ prisoners. British Second Army Corps captured 350 prisoners 'and a battery. Germans have suffered severely. Their men are said to be very exhausted. British have crossed the River Marne, in a northerly direction. Admiralty announced H.M.S. Vindictive captured a German collier in the Atlantic, with 5000 tons of coal. British tramp steamer was mined and sunk off the Northumberland coast. The crew were lost.
